Fire services

The fire division of the Ashburn Department of Public Safety is here to protect the lives and property of our neighbors. Our firefighters respond to fires, medical and rescue calls, vehicle crashes and other emergencies. We train often, including joint training with Turner County, so we’re ready when the call comes. We also work to prevent emergencies by sharing fire safety tips and visiting with our community. If you need us, call 911 in an emergency or 229-567-2121 for anything else.

A message from James Wise, Battalion Chief

To our friends and neighbors in Ashburn: we’re glad you’re here. The Ashburn Department of Public Safety is here to help, whether it’s a fire, an emergency, or a question about keeping your family safe.

On the fire side, we train often so we’re ready, but we’d rather meet you at a school visit or a community event than on a bad day. Stop by the station anytime, say hello, and ask us anything. It’s a privilege to serve this community, and we’re always just a call away.

James Wise, Battalion Chief

Joint training with Turner County

Our firefighters train with Turner County crews on live-fire exercises so they are ready when you call.

Fire safety tips for your home

General, widely used home fire-safety advice.

  • Smoke alarms. General home-safety advice: have working alarms on every level and near sleeping areas, test them monthly and replace them when they get old.
  • Plan your escape. Know two ways out of every room and pick a meeting place outside. Practice it.
  • Cooking. Never leave the stove unattended while cooking. Keep things that can burn away from the burners.
  • Heating. Keep space heaters at least three feet from anything that can burn. Turn them off when you leave or sleep.
  • Electrical. Do not overload outlets or run cords under rugs. Replace damaged cords.
  • If there is a fire. Get out, stay out, and call 911 from outside.
