Privacy policy
What we collect
Information you choose to give us, such as your name, email and message if you use the contact form.
What we do not do
This website uses no advertising trackers, no embedded social feeds and no third-party fonts.
How we use your information
To answer your message.
Alert sign-ups
If you sign up on our Get alerts page, we keep:
- your email address and the topics you chose, if you sign up for email alerts;
- a browser push subscription (a technical address your browser gives us so we can send notifications to that phone or computer) and the topics you chose, if you turn on notifications;
- when you signed up and the internet (IP) address you used, as a record of your consent.
We use this only to send Ashburn Department of Public Safety alerts. We do not sell it or share it for marketing. Alert emails are delivered by Mailgun, an email delivery service, which may record whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked. Notifications are delivered by your browser’s own push service (for example Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft).
You can unsubscribe anytime: use the “Unsubscribe” or “Manage preferences” link at the bottom of any alert email, or turn notifications off on the Get alerts page or in your browser or phone settings.
Outside sites
Links to the citation payment portal and Facebook go to sites run by other organizations with their own privacy practices.
